What is MicroSort?

MicroSort is a scientifically proven preconception process that improves the chances that the baby you conceive will be of the desired gender. Semen samples usually contain equal amounts of sperm carrying the Y chromosome (which will produce a boy), and sperm carrying the X chromosome (which will produce a girl).

MicroSort® is a branch of the Genetics & IVF Institute (GIVF). The Genetics & IVF Institute is a fully integrated, comprehensive fertility center located in Fairfax, Virginia, USA. Since 1984, GIVF has been an innovator in fertility treatment and genetics care — and has helped thousands of patients worldwide realize their dreams of starting a family.

HIGHLIGHT: The LIV Fertility Center is the only licensed clinic for MicroSort® Mexico — the gender selection Mexico technologies corporation responsible for helping intended parents have a baby of their desired gender during assisted reproductive technologies (ART).

The purpose of this sophisticated method is to either:

  • Prevent genetic disease or
  • Facilitate family balancing also known as sex selection

For best semen quality results, we recommend:

  • No alcohol consumption during that period.
  • No exposure to high temperatures, such as hot water, hot tubs, vapor rooms, etc.

*Patients that have received hepatitis vaccines should get the appropriate tests to avoid false positives.

The MicroSort Mexico Process

MicroSort is a pre-conception gender selection advancement that does not involve the creation of embryos. The MicroSort method sorts sperm before the fertilization process to substantively intensify the likelihood of a desired gender. Without MicroSort in Mexico, sperm samples are close to 50% X-bearing and 50% Y-bearing.

During MicroSort Mexico the sperm sample is washed to remove liquid along non-flowing cells. The sample is stained with a special fluorescent stain that attaches temporarily to the DNA contained in the spermatozoa.

The stained spermatozoa are analyzed one by one by a flow cytometer. The flow cytometer uses special software to identify sperm which exhibit the fluorescence signature of cells that match healthy sperm of the desired gender.

With MicroSort technology in Mexico it is possible to either produce a high percentage of X-bearing sperm (girls) or a high percentage of Y-bearing sperm (boys).

Success Rates using MicroSort Mexico

Fertility clinics in Mexico utilizing the MicroSort Mexico method of sorted sperm offer female gender selection results in an average of 91%. MicroSort sperm separation for male gender selection yields an average of 74% of sorted specimen.
